Rolf Singenberger

FOUNDER

With three decades of bike industry experience, Rolf Singenberger stands out as a passionate product designer and savvy business developer. He's earned numerous international design awards and holds patents for his groundbreaking innovations.

During his 13-year tenure at BMC Switzerland, from 2001 to 2014, Singenberger led R&D and product management, steering the brand to victory in events like the Tour de France and Olympics, while setting new technology standards in performance bikes

In 2014, he founded RS Development LLC, offering consultancy services to leading bike brands. Singenberger's expertise continued to shape the industry, highlighted by the launch of his own e-bike brand, LOGO, in 2018, and succesfully sold the company to one of the biggest cycling group during Eurobike 2021.

Despite his entrepreneurial ventures, Singenberger remains dedicated to driving advancements in cycling technology through RS Development, cementing his status as a formidable force in the bike industry.

E-Mobility

We are an innovative company from Gotha/Thüringen, which has specialized in the development and production of E-motors and premium bike components since 12/12/2012. Thanks to the Kappstein founder Christian Gerlach and Xuefeng Ye's many years of experience in the E-Mobility field we are able to prepare individual E-Mobility solutions for pedelecs and speed pedelecs according to the customer's requirements.

Chainrings & sprockets

With the production of the first Kappstein Sprockets for our electric motors and a chainring for the Doppio, we quickly recognised the potential of our state-of-the-art machinery for the production of high-quality chainrings and sprockets for cycling. Meanwhile, we are in close contact with the FES(Institute for the Research and Development of Sports Equipment) as well as with professional athletes in order to continuously develop our products further.

Our latest development is the ProLine drive series. It combines high-precision manufacturing technology, innovative tooth design (round teeth design), special material tempering and drastic weight reduction — and all this for narrower 11-speed chains.

Mechanical components

Apart from our core business of electromobility for bicycles, our expertise primarily lies in the development of innovative mechanical drive components. The centrepiece is our bottom bracket gearbox “Doppio”. Our engineers have successfully accommodated a planetary gearhead with 6 planets in a very small space. The result is an extremely slim and lightweight 2-speed gearbox offering many possible combinations. A further attractive feature is the “Silent Freewheel Hub”, a rear wheel hub with an immediate frictional connection and an almost noiseless freewheel.

Metal processing

Kappstein also offers the possibility of a wide variety of external processing options. We are always open to new and demanding projects. In close cooperation with the customer, we always try to meet even the most specific customer requirements. Thanks to our quality standards, a solid company network and state-of-the-art lathes and milling machines, we are able to meet almost any customer requirement.
